Egham can act as a ‘Gateway to Magna Carta Country’. With investment taking place at Runnymede, both Heritage Lottery Funded for the National Trust and Council funded at the Pleasure Grounds, The Literary Institute can ensure the town’s development is joined-up with other investment, creating a richer inter-linked story for visitors.
To achieve this, a key new attraction housed in the Lit, within The Egham Museum, will be a room dedicated to the internationally important Magna Carta, with the aim of displaying an original Magna Carta. Discussion between The Egham Museum staff and national museums and archives are currently underway to investigate the requirements of making this a reality.
